About

If living in a village in the remote rainforest and mountainous region in the Malaysian Borneo (Sabah) while being a mere four-wheel drive away from the beautiful city of Kota Kinabalu sounds like an appealing holiday, then Borneo Village Homestay is the place for you. Join the Borneo Village Homestay Project, where you will stay in an actual village house with a Kadazandusun native villager who will bring you through her daily life with your meals taken care of.

The Borneo Village Homestay Project is something I have set up voluntarily with the help of family and friends. A year ago I travelled to Sabah and did a community project in Kampung Natai (Natai Village). However, a 2 week stint can have very little impact, which is why one year on, I’ve decided to help my friend in the village, Felicia Joseph Dolinting, set up a small homestay project of her own. The objectives are:

  • To provide the opportunity to diversify income
  • To increase the villagers’ exposure to the outside world and the opportunities available
  • I do not receive any commission nor am I paid anything to help promote this homestay programme in Borneo– I do this completely voluntarily in support of development but the homestay itself is a business.

Accommodation, food and activities will be arranged and tailor made to suit your personal preferences at reasonable rates. There’s a Flickr widget displaying random pictures from the village on the sidebar, but to view the brand new video and even more photos, check out the photos section.
